Zombie Powers and Abilities

Zombies are creatures that after living their life and then dying, they are brought back from the dead through a number of ways. Hollywood has created the image that zombies are something to be feared because they have a constant urge to eat on the flesh or brains of other living humans. But what powers do zombies actually have? The truth is that zombies are not magical creatures who can move objects without touching them and they definitely can’t move faster than a speeding bullet or walk through walls. They really only have two powers, which really aren’t powers at all. They are simply urges to kill or to make living humans become zombies as well. Besides these powers, or urges, do zombies have any weaknesses or are all humans at the mercy of zombies?

The first power that zombies possess, or reason why they should be feared, is that they have a constant craving to feast on human brains or flesh. This concept is often misunderstood because they sometimes have no mouths or stomachs, as those have sometimes been removed in their dying process or after they have died. Zombies simply have the craving for human flesh because they are dead and therefore, crave that which is living. This type of killing done by zombies is mostly found in the horror movies. Voodoo zombies have generally been thought of as harmless and are merely slaves to the master that created them.

But eating flesh is not the only way that zombies have the power to kill. Once a zombie has bitten a living human, the person will begin to get sick and die. This happens quite quickly, usually within approximately three days. After the person has died from the zombie bite, they will generally come back to life in the form of another zombie. This can make great storylines as it causes the number of zombies to grow at incredible rates. It’s not known why this happens but it could have a large part to do with the fact that zombies are very contaminated and sickly creatures. The person may just simply catch their disease although this still does not explain why they would come back as a zombie.

As deadly as they can be, zombies do have weaknesses. The first weakness is that they have no mind and are a slave to their creator. Because of this, they have no control over what they do. Whether this is an actual weakness is debatable due to the fact that because they have no mind, they have no desires and therefore, should logically be indifferent as to what they do. They are also extremely slow-moving. This is an actual weakness to them when they are trying to feed off living humans that can outrun them very easily. For this reason, zombies often attack in large groups when they can surround their prey.
