I remember when Universal Studios theme park in Florida was my kind of place. JAWS: THE RIDE, the house from PSYCHO, and KING KONG. All those are gone now. Now there’s stuff like TRANSFORMERS: THE RIDE. Don’t get me wrong, here; I love me some Transformers, but where are the offerings for the Horror buffs of the world? Gone, gone away. (I know they still do that MUMMY maze thing, right? And stuff around Halloween. But pickin’s are still slim as far as I’m concerned. If I had my druthers the whole park would be devoted exclusively to Horror films.) This seems to be changing again, though. They’re developing a new Kong ride, or “experience,” as they call it, to promote the upcoming release of SKULL ISLAND. And then there’s this WALKING DEAD attraction.
They will be using actual molds from the television series to craft their Walkers for the ride. These latter will be animatronic, akin to the pirates in the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN ride. Right now they’re just doing it for the theme park in Hollywood, but I figure it won’t be too long till they have one up and running at the park in Florida, which is way closer to my stomping grounds. Will I go on the ride? In my mind, I’m standing in line already.
