You’ve heard about it in the news. The homeowners, the display, and the controversy. I’m talking about the Zombie Nativity Scene that has been staged for the past few years in Sycamore Township, Ohio. The holiday season has passed; it’s now time to put the undead shepherds, Magi, and holy family away until next Christmas. This past week, though, I made contact with the Dixon family, the owners of the Zombie Nativity who have become unintended proponents for free speech since their zombies rubbed some folks the wrong way. I asked them if they would be interested in doing an interview, and they gladly acquiesced. They told me they wondered that the Horror community hasn’t become more vocal and involved in the case, hasn’t been more willing to step up to defend the Zombie Nativity. Hey, I’ll gladly be the first! I’ll lead the crusade!
The Dixons have been targeted by religious zealots, petty politicians, and vandals. All that is unfortunate, but because of the controversy they also got to be interviewed by me for this site, so there was at least SOME compensation for them. We’ll have the full interview for you next week. In the meantime, please check out the Dixon’s YouTube page to get caught up.
