What is it with zombies and brains, anyway? You go back to the original NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, the zombies are carnivorous and cannibalistic. That is never really explained, but it makes sense in an indistinct sort of way. They’re dead, thus mindless, thus are motivated by the most primitive, basic biological urge: to eat. As time and movies continued to flow, the zombies’ appetites began to focus primarily on human brains. Why? Is it because the zombies lack minds of their own, that they are seeking to regain them by eating those of other people?
A friend passed this video along to me. (See link below.) I confess I’ve never watched the show from which it is taken, THE GRIM ADVENTURES OF BILLY AND MANDY on the Cartoon Network (yes, I had to look it up) but I don’t think it’s necessary to enjoy this clip. A creature from outer space, complete with a good singing voice, ala Audrey 2 in LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, is sucking out people’s brains and turning them into zombies. The alien itself is NOT a zombie, so I’m not sure where it developed its taste for the gray matter. Are brains just unusually delicious?
